For the last few years, Pokemon Go has dominated the AR game niche. Published by Niantic, the game was released in 2016 and makes use of the mobile-friendly Unity engine.

It is one of the few games that require players to go out in the real world if they want to collect new Pokemons. Like all other games, Pokemon Go is frequently updated with players often encountering bugs and issues every now and then.

Recently, Niantic hosted the Pokemon Go Halloween event with one of the challenges rewarding players with 400 Stardust if they catch 40 Ghost-type creatures.

However, some Pokemon Go players say that they are facing an issue where the catch 40 Ghost-type challenge progress is being reset after the time-limited Halloween event ended.

This happened to me too! Just logged in and bam back down to 0/40…caught a Gastly just to see if the issue would resolve itself but no! I think I had 38/39 out of the 40. This sort of thing definitely makes it more difficult to want to keep playing these grinding missions

Do you still have your progress? It ended up resetting for me and others, it seems. Signed out, cleared and redownloaded data, did a full reinstall as some seemed to say would work. Still lost all my progress.

As it turns out, Niantic is aware of the issue and said that they have resolved the same. However, players say they are still affected by the issue.

Sorry for the trouble, Marc. We are aware of an issue where the “Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon” counter was set back to 0 on step 1 of Halloween Special Research. This issue should be resolved now

But it looks like the Pokemon Go Catch 40 Ghost-type event progress reset bug isn’t the only thing players are angry with. Recent user reports indicate that Pokemon Go has added a lot of new gyms and pokestops.

With many confused as to what happened, some were happy with the addition of new stops and gyms since it made raiding and earning coins a little bit easier.

waked up earier to find two new gyms in my home town weird thing is their in the same spot found out about themdue to nearby raid notifications about them having overlaping raids

Out and about at the moment and noticed a huge portal sync has just occurred. New gyms and stops EVERYWHERE. Im a hardcore gym badge chaser and I don’t recall a sync this sizeable since the gym badge system went live mid 2017. It may be a local Timezone rollout, seems to have hit about midday here.
Edit: In my city I’m counting about 40 new gyms, and it looks like two hits happened. The big sync and then another sync once the new stuff appeared that triggered more. Curious to know what Niantic is up to.

Thankfully, Niantic seems to be aware of the new gyms and pokestops popping up issue and said that it is currently under investigation.
