Update 1 (November 24, 2023)

05:10 pm (IST): Fortunately, this issue has already been resolved by the company, and Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro owners can use the launcher without any occasional hiccups.

Original story follows:

Nova Launcher is one of the most popular third-party launchers out there. Its large number of features made it the favorite with many. However, it seems that Nova Launcher is crashing on Google Pixel 6 phones.

Many Google Pixel 6 users report that the app is suffering from constant crashes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Nova Launcher is constantly crashing on Google Pixel 6 phones

According to reports from affected users, Nova Launcher in the Pixel 6 series is constantly crashing, and it also does not allow them to access the application settings.

Anyone else having issues with Nova on pixel 6?keeps giving an error and that it needs to close and reverts back to pixel launcher. I was trying to use Nova to get rid of the Google bar at bottom of my screen in pixel launcher. Is there a way to do that without Nova?

The Nova Launcher issue seems to be limited to the Google Pixel 6 series. Most of the reports come from users of these devices, and some confirms that the app is running correctly on other Pixel phones.

I just got my Pixel 6 Pro. Tried to run the Nova Launcher app but it keeps crashing.
I’ve tried restarting the phone, closed all apps. Restarted the Nova app, still the same story. But it doesnt crash at all on Pixel 2 XL.

The bug is giving headaches to many Google Pixel 6 phone users, who often use the nova Launcher to change some elements of the Google Pixel interface (like the Google Search bar at bottom) that they don’t like.

There is an official workaround

Fortunately, there is a workaround that could help you. The workaround comes from the Nova Launcher developers:

Remove all widgets from the home screen in both Nova and Pixel launchers, reboot the device and it should work.

If not, start with a completely fresh install of Nova with no widgets on the home screen of Pixel Launcher.

After completing the steps, Google Pixel 6 phones users should be able to use Nova Launcher without problems. Anyway, future Launcher updates might arrive with the bug fixed, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Some users report that the workaround described above helped them solve the annoying problem. Therefore, if you are one of the affected users, you can give it a try.
