New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 29, 2021) follows:

On October 19, Google introduced the Pixel 6 lineup with some revolutionary changes. One of which is the Tensor chip developed in partnership with Samsung which Google claims to be 80% faster than the CPU on Pixel 5.

Google’s Pixel 6 series includes two models — Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The standard Pixel 6 features a 6.4-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate, whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7-inch 120Hz display.

While both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro share almost the same hardware on the inside, they can be differentiated in terms of display, design, and camera, similar to Apple’s Pro and non-Pro lineups.

Soon after the launch, Google started accepting pre-orders for these devices. However, many customers have reported issues with pre-ordering such as shipping time delays and store crashing.

The company also offered a pair of Pixel Buds A-Series for those who pre-order the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro before October 27. The Pixel Buds A-Series is Google’s premium range wireless earbuds that usually cost $99.

But they were available for free if you pre-ordered the new Pixel 6 from Google Fi. Customers who pre-ordered received a code via email to redeem the earbuds, which is valid until November 10. More on that here.

Unfortunately, some customers are now complaining (1, 2, 3) that the promo code they received on Pixel 6 purchase is not working. When they try to redeem the code, it shows an error that says ‘Coupon does not exist’.

Here are some reports for reference:

Just got the email, so that’s nice. The main problem now is that the store won’t accept it: when I enter it in the promo code box, it tells me it doesn’t exist. (Source)

Is anyone else having issues getting their free pair of pixel buds a with the promo code from buying a Pixel 6? It’s saying my promo code doesn’t exist. Any help would be appreciated! (Source)

As apparent from the above reports, users aren’t able to redeem their Pixel Buds A-Series from Google Store due to Pixel Buds promo code not working error. Many of those affected then took to Reddit seeking a solution.

Luckily, some users have already found a fix for this problem. They found that the promo code does not work when you simply copy-paste it. Instead, the code works if you type it manually.

When you copy-paste code directly, it also carries some invisible spaces which make it different from the actual code. Hence, you get an error. So, to make the promo code work, one has to manually type it.

If you are also getting Pixel Buds promo code not working error and unable to redeem your Pixel Buds Series-A, then we will recommend you to type the code manually rather than copy-pasting and see if it works.

Update 1 (October 30)

09:43 am (IST): It seems Google support is also asking users who’re reaching out for help with the problem by telling them to manually type the code in all lower-case, according to a Redditor.

Support basically just said to type it in manually, all lower-case.

But they do it this way to keep down the promo costs. Some people may not realize they’ve got a freebie, or don’t use the code in time, or don’t even want the freebie to begin with. (Source)

Update 2 (November 01)

10:47 am (IST): One of our readers notes that Instead open up your purchase in an incognito window and apply the code and it will work. A few others note that this seems to have worked for them as well so affected persons might want to try this workaround.

Many thanks to one Scott Daniel Horrigan for the tip!

Update 3 (November 02)

05:23 pm (IST): Apparently, Google sent out a fresh “corrected code” to some users who were facing issues with the promo code, according to a Redditor who shared the alleged email.

Here is your corrected promotional code

Thank you for your recent Google Pixel 6/6 Pro purchase on Fi. The promotional code to redeem your Pixel Buds A-Series sent via email yesterday may not be working. Here is your corrected code to copy and paste at checkout. If you were able to redeem your code you can disregard this message. (Source)
