New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on July 08, 2021) follows:

The long-awaited Full Self-Driving update has been getting delayed over and over again for the past couple of months.

Back in June, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had said on Twitter that the FSD update would be released in around two weeks.

He had also stated that Full Self-Driving Beta will be based on Tesla’s recent adoption of a “pure vision” approach. This is essentially the ditching of the trusty radar tech in favor of the more modern, camera-only vision.

More recently, Elon Musk had also confirmed that Tesla would be releasing the new Plaid UI for all models with FSD computer and that all Model 3/Y can be upgraded to have FSD computer.

Yes, updated UI coming with FSD wide release. All cars with FSD computer will have new “mind of car” view. All 3/Y can be upgraded to have FSD computer.

Also mentioned was a new ‘mind of car’ view, which while not exactly clear, is probably a reference to the new driving visualizations that show how the car identifies its surroundings.

And now, Elon Musk has taken to Twitter once again to give out yet another release date for the Tesla FSD Beta V9 update, saying that Beta 9 will start uploading at midnight California time on Friday.

While ‘uploading’ is a rather vague term, we can take it as a starting point following which the update will be trickling to select Tesla owners.

The Tesla CEO then also went on to give out a warning saying that the update is still in its early beta stages. Therefore, minor bugs and issues can be expected.

That said, be sure to go through our dedicated Tesla section for more of such update-related stories along with coverages on some of the most commonly-faced recent issues.

You don’t even need to touch the shifter in new S. Auto detect direction will come as an optional setting to all cars with FSD.
