If you are a mobile gamer, you must have heard of the ROG Phone lineup by Asus. The Asus ROG Phone 5 is the predecessor to the ROG Phone 3 and is the latest by the Taiwanese manufacturer.

Launched in March this year, it is a flagship phone that features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. It is designed for gamers and comes with Adreno 660 paired with a 6000 mAh battery and 65W fast charging.

Despite the powerful device specs, Asus ROG Phone 5 owners say that the phone has mediocre software that often ruins the experience. Some users recently complained that the “Block Notification” in Game Center was not working while others said they were experiencing battery drain issues.

Having said that, many ROG Phone 5 users say that the Wi-Fi and Hotspot function is not working for them. A simple Google search reveals that the Wi-Fi issue with ROG Phone 5 is rampant with potentially thousands affected.

ROG Phone 5 owners say they have tried contacting Asus but to no avail. However, some who went to the service center said that Asus has replaced the motherboard on their devices and that it has resolved the Wi-Fi not working issue for them.

I am from Kerala. I submitted my rog phone 5 to cochin service center 7 days ago. Based on discussion with the service manager, I understand that presently there is chip shortage and for most new cases, they are refunding or provide new hand set. I have to wait 7 more days to get exact status of my case. I will let you know once I get any feedback from the service center regarding this.

IT’S ALREADY 26 DAYS SINCE NO REPLACEMENT WAS DONE FROM ASUS SERVICE CENTER. THEY DELAYING TOO MUCH

While some suggested that the issue was caused by a faulty software update, it looks like the hardware is to blame since many users say Asus is either offering a replacement or refunding the device amount.

But the replacement device offered by Asus seems to be taking weeks for some due to the global chip shortage.

I shared the logs with them a long time ago and i got no response after that. I visited the service center and submitted my phone to get the motherboard replaced because the Asus team called me to confirm thats the only solution. And now the service center tells me it will take till 17th October for the repair because they ran out of motherboards and there is a delay from Asus’ end. Keep in mind i deposited my phone on 17th September. So basically out of 12 months of warranty my phone is not even with me and its with the service center for 1 month. This is the service Asus gives for a 6 months old “Flagship” gaming phone?

Unfortunately, Asus is yet to say anything on the matter and it still remains unknown if the issue is because of faulty software or hardware.
