Samsung launched Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic at Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11. And since then, these smartwatches have reached plenty of users.

Besides the goodies of Galaxy Watch 4 series, many users have also come across issues that have been bothering them for quite some time.

Users have previously complained about Galaxy Watch 4 heart rate sensor not working properly. And now, another issue has come to light where users are not getting notified with Gmail notifications.

As per reports, Gmail notifications are shown when they scroll through all their messages on the Galaxy Watch 4. But the watch doesn’t vibrate when the notification arrives on the phone.

If I get a Gmail, my phone vibrates and notifies in my pocket, but the watch does nothing. If I swipe to the left I can see the email but it never vibrates for me. Texts and calls and such work fine though. Anyone else? (Source)

My Gmail notifications don’t ‘notify’ on the watch. No vibration or screen light up. But they’re there if I scroll right. (Source)

This is not a new issue. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 owners have had to deal with this Gmail notification bug for a while now and yet Samsung did not acknowledge it. That may have been because it was already a known issue.

The South Korean tech giant has recently released a new featured-packed software update for Galaxy Watch 4. It adds various new features including 4 new watch faces, improvements in heart rate measurement, new gestures, and more.

Meanwhile, some users have confirmed that this new update also fixed the Gmail notification bug. However, there was no mention of this bug fix in the changelog.

So happy they got this sorted and I can finally remove Outlook from my watch and phone. Only thing I’m looking forward to next is Google Assistant. (Source)

As noted, this isn’t a new issue but for some reason, none of the previous updates managed to address the Gmail notifications bug. But surprisingly, the new patch seems to have sorted out this problem.

However, it remains to be seen if indeed this problem is fixed for everyone else. If the issue is still bothering you even after installing the latest update then do let us know in the comments below.
