Original story (published on October 08, 2021) follows:

YouTube has grown to become such an integral part of our online lives. The platform hosts millions of hours worth of videos from entertainment content to educational material and everything in between.

In a bid to allow users to properly organize their libraries, YouTube has a nifty playlists feature. This allows users to organize their videos and save content they deem useful.

Well, now it is coming to light that there might be an issue with this feature. YouTube users have been flocking community forums and social media platforms, noting that suddenly, their YouTube playlists seem to have all disappeared.

According to these users, on logging into YouTube on the web, they notice that there is no dropdown menu for playlists or liked videos list. Mobile users aren’t spared either.

Today I got on YouTube and went to go look for a tutorial video I had saved in one of my many playlists as I like to be organized. My playlists are gone. Completely. I didn’t even have an option for playlists on the side bar. On mobile they’re gone too. Just nothing
However I can still save videos to my playlists and they all show up, I just have no way of accessing them. Has anyone else had this problem, or know a solution?

youtube playlists dissapeared

I know my playlists weren’t deleted. But for some reason, on my phone, the youtube playlists dissapeared. No updates are pending, and I’ve tried restarting my device. Because I have a Google Pixel 5, uninstalling isn’t an option I believe. Need some help.

Opened YouTube and all my youtube playlists dissapeared? I don’t know where they went and I’m kind of freaking out about it because I’ve spent years curate and I just don’t know where they went. Anyone have any fixes?

Interestingly, some users have been able to access these playlists on YouTube using YouTube Studio.

At the time of writing, it remains unclear what exactly causes this bug but what we know is that this issue is pretty widespread. We shall continue to keep an eye on this development and report as and when we get more info.

Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to be the first to know if anything changes if you too have had your YouTube Playlists disappeared.

Update 1 (October 08, 2021)

03:35 pm (IST): YouTube support confirmed that the team is aware of the issue where the playlists of some users are missing. A fix for the bug is in the works, however, there’s no ETA.

Update 3 (August 02, 2022)

06:24 pm (IST): Many users are now reporting (1, 2, 3) that YouTube is deleting their private playlists saying that it violates their ‘Hate speech’ policy.

And this is likely the reason why playlists are suddenly empty or missing for many. Unfortunately, YouTube hasn’t yet acknowledged this issue.

Update 4 (August 03, 2022)

06:08 pm (IST): YouTube support is now asking those affected to share the playlist URL, but they did not promise any fix.

sorry to hear this, can you share the playlist URL + context on what we might have missed in the appeal? no promises that the decision will change, but we’ll see if we can help/get more info (Source)

Update 5 (August 04, 2022)

06:38 pm (IST): YouTube support has informed those affected that they have sent an email to them with more details on the matter along with steps on how to resolve this issue.

Also, users whose playlist got deleted due to ‘Hate speech’ policy have an option to appeal the decision.

1️⃣ you should’ve received an email from us with more details about it + steps on how to resolve it. if you think that the decision was made by mistake, you have the option to appeal. (Source)

Update 6 (August 05, 2022)

06:46 pm (IST): YouTube support has suggested that those affected should try logging out and signing back in to their account or updating the app to the latest version to fix this issue.

hmm…if you haven’t already, try logging out and signing back in to your account. updating the app to its latest version can also help (Source)

Update 7 (October 12, 2022)

09:30 am (IST): YouTube users (1,2) are once again reporting that playlists and saved or liked videos have suddenly disappeared. Do note that this issue was previously fixed, but seems to have sneaked back into the platform.

Watch Later, Saved, Liked Videos, all just gone. Logging in and out doesn’t restore them. I literally rely on these Playlists.
