Apex Legends players frustrated with frequent server lag & disconnection issues
Apex Legends is one of the most popular competitive first-person video games. Unlike realistic Battle Royale games like PUBG, Apex Legends consists of characters with unique abilities called Legends.
Launched in 2019, it is developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe. Within a week of its release, the game had more than 25 million players. In April of 2021, Apex crossed the 100 million player base mark.
Every season, Respawn adds a new legend to the game, with the latest being Seer. It is currently in Season 10. Unsurprising, like every online multiplayer game, Apex Legends players frequently encounter some bugs and issues every now and then.
Having said that, there is this one issue that has been haunting players since the start of Season 10. Thousands of players on Steam are complaining that they are fed up with server lags and frequent disconnections.
The thread has 2,733 comments at the time of writing, most of them complaining about the game servers. Many say that they are getting high ping and severe lags for no reason. This is really tilting for those who play the game professionally since they lose a lot of RP.
I am still getting rapid huge lag spikes when I’m on a server that says 7-20 ping. Yet I’m jumping from 35-75-1200 back and forth non-stop. My internet connection is fine. No other games lag. What is going on with the Apex servers? I would genuinely like to understand but also, RANT.(Source)
I tried playing last month and the beginning of this month but the ping and lag was unbearable. I play on Singapore or Bahrain if players are there. Also my CPU was maxing out and the FPS were dropping like crazy. I love this game but I really hate to see it come to this point. Really wish respawn to fix the issues and bring it back to it’s former glory.
The problem seems to persist even though Respawn Entertainment released a patch in September that aimed at resolving server issues.
We’ve shipped a patch for @playapex that should meaningfully address teleporting, packet loss, and lag.
Many say they are fed up with the state of Apex Legends and want EA to fix servers as soon as possible. While the root cause of the issue still remains unknown, EA has said that is working on the same.
With every day passing by, more players are abandoning the game in search of a new battle royale since Apex Legends is literally unplayable. If this trend continues, it won’t be long before fanboys stop playing the game.
