Verizon is one of the few telecommunication networks that adopted 5G technology early on. It is the second-largest wireless carrier in the United States, with more than 120.9 million subscribers.
Wi-Fi calling comes in handy if you are in a location where the cellular signal is weak or not present. The phone then makes use of the Wi-Fi network available to make and receive calls or texts.
For some, Wi-Fi calling is absolutely necessary since they do not have access to a regular network at their home or workplace.
People say they have tried resetting network settings and restarting the phone, but it isn’t helping either. Many also reported that the service is not working for them on downdetector.com.
So I work at a hospital and get terrible service. I usually turn on wifi calling/texting and turn my phone on airplane mode and I get calls and texts just fine. Today my phone is not wanting to send or receive anything. Wants me to turn off airplane mode and then tells me service isn’t available and can’t send messages. I’ve tried restarting my phone and resetting my network setting multiple times and still not working. Any ideas?
Wifi calling on my pixel 2xl suddenly stopped working, it was working flawlessly here for a year before today. Reception is spotty by me so I have it set to fall over to wifi calling when the cell service drops out. Normally I will be on a call and when the signal gets weak it switches over to wifi calling, today when that happens I get a message saying it can’t switch over to wifi.
A user said they contacted Verizon customer support, which allegedly told them that Comcast and Cox internet providers are having some issues with Wi-fi calling which is causing the issue.
Subscribers from different parts of the United States are reporting that they are unable to make calls, which indicates that the issue is widespread.
Users say contacting support hasn’t helped either since they are asking many to reset their network preferences and resetting phones. Maybe the issue is deeper than it seems.
Verizon is yet to acknowledge the Wi-fi calling issue. We will update this article when they do, so make sure you keep an eye out on this space.
