[Updated] Google may soon allow Nest Wifi users to manually remove offline (grayed out or paused) Wi-Fi devices from Home app

Using Google Home, the users can set up and manage their Google Home, Nest, and Chromecast devices. In addition, it also helps you control a bunch of connected home products such as lights, cameras, thermostats, and more.

With the increasing pace of the Internet of things, it has become easier for us to control our home accessories with just a tap using a phone or other capable device. And Google’s Home app is the one that makes it possible.

Despite having all the controls in the Home app, Google still falls short to provide functionality that the users need the most.

According to the reports from the past, the users have complained that while they try to pause any device connected via Google Home Nest WiFi, they can’t be unpaused. And that particular device then completely vanishes off from the list.

Instead, the Home app does not allow them to block or remove a paused device manually. At that time, there were some workarounds that users discovered, but nothing from the company side came out.

The consumers have continuously asked the officials on the forum as to how they can block the devices from the router and entirely remove them.

All my other routers allowes this (Eero, Surfboard, TP-Link). Does the Google access point not allow it? After a while, the community manager replied over this matter and assured the users that the team is aware of such inconvenience and is looking after to find a possible solution.

Meanwhile, another community specialist hopped in and stated that if the devices are grayed out, paused, or went offline, it will take 60 days to get off from the list.

Furthermore, he added that currently there is no way to remove them manually. But the team is looking into it and possibly they will add a feature to the Home app that will allow Nest WiFi users to manually remove offline, grayed out, or paused devices.

However, there is no ETA provided at the moment and we can’t say as to when this feature will be added. But you can always keep an eye on the future updates of the Home app that will likely bring this functionality.
