New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 19, 2021) follows:

The PS5, and the new Xbox lineup for that matter, are the consoles we’ve all, or at least most of us, have been waiting for thanks to the next-gen capabilities they have to offer, including high frame rates at 4K resolution.

That said, not all games support high frame rates by default. Rocket League is one such title that still lacks high fps support on the PS5.

The game was set to get an update on August 18 which was to bring 120fps support on the PS5 along with a Ratchet & Clank bundle, but well, things didn’t go according to plan it seems.

Many confused players did receive the Ratchet & Clank update which brought items from the game developed by Insomniac Games, however, upon further investigation noticed that there was no option to enable 120fps support.

Reports about the missing 120fps option for Rocket League on the PS5 after the update started flooding Twitter and Reddit amongst other social platforms.

As you can tell, Rocket League players were pretty disappointed after realizing that the update didn’t enable support for 120fps on the PS5.

Luckily, Rocket League didn’t waste much time to acknowledge the situation and posted a tweet confirming that they’re aware that players on PlayStation 5 cannot enable 120 FPS support and are working on a solution.

Shortly after this tweet, the team once again took to Twitter and revealed that the update that was expected to go live on August 18 has been delayed until next week.

The update originally scheduled for today is being moved to next week. Exact date and time will be announced closer to the update’s release. (Source)

So if you were wondering why you still can’t enable 120fps support in Rocket League on the PS5, there you go.

While there’s no exact date for the availability of the update right now, the team has confirmed that the exact date and time will be shared shortly.

As usual, we will keep tabs on the situation and will post an update if and when there are any further developments.

Update 1 (September 23)

06:16 pm (IST): PS5 owners, it’s time to rejoice since the latest Rocket League update (v2.04) has finally added 120 FPS support to the game on the platform.
