New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on September 21, 2021) follows:

Dead by Daylight is a horror survival game developed by Behaviour Interactive. Released in 2016, the game is still popular to date and has a healthy player base.

Built on Unreal Engine 4, Dead by Daylight offers unexceptional graphics and unique multiplayer gameplay. It is a 4v1 game with one player filling the shoes of a savage killer.

The other four players have to escape the clutch of the killer who wants to sacrifice his victims to the Entity. Since the killer cannot be killed, he is restricted to the first-person view while the survivors play in third person.

Recently, players reported some bugs in the game including Jill Valentine’s face getting messed up once again and an issue with Blight’s collision mechanics.

Now, players are saying that the developers have released an update that is wreaking havoc on Xbox Series S/X. According to players, some are getting an early patch that is preventing them from playing with those on an older version of the game.

They say that whenever they try to play with others, Dead by Daylight shows a message that says “Game version mismatch. Unable to join host. Please ensure there is no pending update of the game in your download queue.”

Some platforms have been receiving an early patch which makes it unable to play with older versions. If you are having issues with downloading the 5.2.2 patch turning off your console and relaunching should help fetch the patch.

It looks like only a handful of people have received Dead by Daylight patch 5.2.2, which is making it impossible to queue up with others in the game since the majority are on the older version of the game.

Fortunately, Behaviour Interactive has acknowledged the issue and said that those on the newer patch will have to play with crossplay disabled until it is fixed.

Moreover, they will have longer matchmaking time since only a bunch of players have received the unintentional update. However, they did not share any ETA on when the situation will be back to normal.

Apart from the unintentional update, players are also frustrated after Dead by Daylight developers disabled the Dead Dawg Saloon map once again. Last month, Behaviour Interactive had disabled the very map because they wanted to fix some bugs.

It looks like the map was disabled because many were unable to cleanse a totem that was placed behind some table. This is making it impossible for players to defeat the killer.

First game after Saloon was re-enabled – bugged totem. Second game – bugged totem. You can’t cleanse it. Pretty good job so far as always Canadians.

We just had a match where the devour hope was unreachable, it was behind some stair. Talk about luck for the killer :/

The developers recently acknowledged the issue. However, it looks like there is no ETA in sight. This is really frustrating since many were looking forward to playing since it recently came back.

According to a Twitter user, the Dead Dawg Saloon map will be allegedly made available on September 28.

We hope Dead by Daylight developers fix the issues with the Dead Dawg Saloon map and the matchmaking issues affecting those on the new patch.

When they do, we will update this space so make sure you keep an eye out for further updates.
