Ecosystem is an important part of any tech company. It is one of the biggest reasons behind Apple’s success. Google has also a wide range of products, among them the Google Nest family.

The Google Nest includes a wide range of products including smart speakers, smart displays, streaming devices, thermostats, smoke detectors, routers, and more. Some of the most popular appliances are Google Nest Hub and Google Home.

The Google Nest Hub helps you control your smart devices. With the integration of Google Assistant, there are plenty of tasks you can do with it. Just like asking for the time, sunset, date, or playing your favorite songs.

That being said, a new issue has popped up for some Nest Hub and Google Home units. When asked for the sunset or sunrise time, the Nest fails to answer it. Instead, it shows web results.

A Reddit user posted about this annoying Google Nest sunset/sunrise time bug, including a video showing the bug in action on both the Nest Hub and Nest Mini. When he asked the Nest Hub about sunset, it shows search results.

Lately my devices have been answering with “I don’t know, but I found some results that might help”. I just asked the sunrise question and got “here are some results from the web” and it SHOWS the sunrise time. I don’t want to have to LOOK at the result. It’s been my experience that Google is most likely working on the problem and it will be fixed soon(ish).

I get “these are the top results” and then it displays on the screen. Could it have something to do with the browser now being integrated? I’m in Melbourne Australia.

On the other hand, the Home Mini says “Sorry, I didn’t understand.” For those who have been following PiunikaWeb, you’ll know the latter isn’t exactly a new issue.

It is also to be noted that this is happening in various regions including the U.S., Australia, and the UK. One of those affected suggests that it might have something to do with the new browser integration.

Whether this has anything to do with the Google Nest Hub June update that enabled Assistant to read articles aloud (TTS) remains unknown. But it’s clear those affected are not happy.

@madebygoogle @Google @Apple @Microsoft Once again a feature that was working perfectly fine on Google Nest Hub Max “What time is sunset?” now suddenly and inexplicably stops working. And so it goes with Pichai’s Google and their overpaid devs constantly breaking everything.

For now, there is no workaround for Google Nest sunset/sunrise time bug. We will keep you posted whenever there is an update, but until then you can check out more Google-related news here.
