[Updated] NBC Channel 12 down or not working on YouTube TV? Support confirms fix in the works

The National Broadcasting Company, popularly known as NBC, is an American TV channel owned by the telecom giant Comcast.

It is the same company that owns the recently launched video streaming service Peacock TV.

With millions of viewers worldwide, NBC is home to one of the most-watched TV shows, “Sunday Night Football.”

The service is available on numerous platforms, including the popular video-sharing website YouTube.

Having said that, these apps and services sometimes have issues streaming certain channels on their platform, and NBC is no exception.

According to YouTube Premium subscribers, NBC Channel 12 is down on YouTube TV.

Anyone in the local RVA metro area with YouTube TV Live, not able to get our local NBC channel 12? It’s been down since this morning but other channels work. Can’t find info anywhere.

It looks like many people are stuck on commercials, with some reports suggesting that the channel has frozen for more than 24 hours.

Some user reports date back to August 20, which means the issue persisted over the course of the weekend.

Fortunately, YouTube has finally acknowledged that NBC Channel 12 is down on YouTube TV and said they are working on a fix.

Let us hope NBC and YouTube are working on fixing the issue with YouTube TV soon. We will update this space once the service is restored, so make sure to keep an eye out!

IST 1:14 pm: Now, one of the affected users notes that he’s been in touch with NBC 12 and the company confirmed that the issue lies on YouTube’s end.

This channels been off-line since Thursday night. I got an email from the folks at NBC 12 saying that the problem is on YouTube side. Come on folks let’s get it together.

IST 08:42 am: It appears that many users have been facing issues with the NBC Sports channel on YouTube TV. Thankfully, YouTube did acknowledge the problem and confirmed that they’re looking into it.

IST 11:21 am: It is now coming to light that an agreement between NBCU and YouTube TV expires on Thursday, September 30, and as of now, the two parties haven’t yet been able to reach an equitable agreement.

Should the stalemate continue, YouTube TV users will see themselves losing access to NBCU lineup of channels and a drop in the premium by $10. More on that here.

IST 11:54 am: In the ongoing contract tussle between Google and its content providers, it is now coming to light that one of the contentious issues between NBCU and YouTube TV has to do with Peacock.

Reports indicate that as a part of its negotiations, NBC Universal demanded that Google bundle Peacock Premium into YouTube TV. This was a condition of having NBC channels on YouTube TV.

IST 12:30 pm: YouTube and NBC have reportedly agreed to a short extension before the two split in case a deal isn’t made. However, it isn’t clear how long the extension is in place.

IST 10:10 am: YouTube TV announced on Twitter that they have reached an agreement with NBCUniversal. As a result, users will now be able to have access to 85+ channels with no change in the current monthly price.

Users will be able to watch channels including NBCU channels, their regional sports network, the local NCB station, and more.
