Apple is known to hold its annual iPhone event on the second week of September. This has at least been the case for the past four or so years, which is also when we get to see a new version of iOS.

This year’s iOS 15 update is currently in beta and with only a month between now and the potential iPhone 13 event that should also see the new OS hit the stable channel, there’s little room left for mistakes.

Unfortunately, software development isn’t a walk in the park, not even for the best minds that we know Apple has been able to assemble over the years.

With the release of iOS 15 beta came plenty of new additions and tweaks to Safari web browser – most of which have been a breathe of fresh air into what looked like a stale app.

The ability to pull down to refresh is one major highlight of this update alongside a refreshed design. While things were all rosy until beta 3, the release of beta 4 came with an unwanted addition.

Sure, beta 4 surprised many after Apple allowed Safari users on iPadOS 15 to decide what UI version to keep. But it also broke a minor yet useful function while at it.

iOS 15 Beta 5 - Safari doesn’t remember scroll position on previous page. from iOSBeta

According to those affected, iOS 15 beta 4 introduced an issue where Safari browser would forget the scroll position on the previous page. And apparently, the new beta 5 doesn’t fix it the bug.

The video above was shared on Reddit and below it we have a few other iOS 15 beta users who say they’ve had to deal with this issue since beta 4.

While the very essence of having a beta program is to iron out such issues, this isn’t the time to deal with such annoyances. If anything, Safari on iOS 15 beta 5 should be nearly stable.

Of course, Apple is likely to release several other beta updates before eventually rolling out the stable version, so we expect to see a future build addressing this bug.

Not everyone is affected, so it seems. But for now, iOS 15 beta testers whose Safari browser doesn’t remember the scroll position on the previous page may have to hang in there and hope Apple is aware.

As always, we’ll keep an eye on it and update this story once we have a new development. You may also keep an eye on our iOS 15 update tracker to get notified when this fix arrives.
