Poco F3 GT users report heating issues, fix in the works

The Poco F3 GT is the gaming edition of the Poco F3 (Mi 11X) and comes with several dedicated features designed to woo mobile gamers like a gamer-themed design, Maglev Triggers, RGB lighting, and more.

But perhaps the most promoted aspect is the Mediatek Dimensity 1200 chip that powers the device. The processor is part of Mediatek’s flagship 1000 series and is definitely no joke when it comes to raw power.

It is, however, a teeny bit less powerful than the Snapdragon 870 found on the Poco F3. But that’s okay since the Poco F3 is also a tad more expensive than its gaming-centric sibling.

What’s not okay though is that the Poco F3 GT reportedly suffers from heating issues, at least for some users. There have been multiple complaints from the F3 GT camp, a few of which have been given below.

#POCOF3GT #pocoindia I bought it 4 days ago and it has too many problems. It has a heating problem – only 1 hour game and too much heat and the battery drains fast.

I bought poco f3 gt, I found some problems: dark mode is not optimized – some apps look odd. App Processing is slow and the front & rear cameras must be optimized. Experienced some heating.

Users say that the Poco F3 remains warm during regular usage and heats up even quicker when gaming. Not everyone is facing the problem equally though as some say that the device gets way too hot while others say that it gets warm.

However, upon going through gaming reviews of the device, one will find reviewers saying that the device does not heat up at all even during extended playing sessions with resource-intensive games like PUBG Mobile.

From this, it’s not too difficult to draw the conclusion that the heating issues on the Poco F3 are limited to a select group of users who have perhaps run into an odd software issue.

Whatever the problem is, Poco has now acknowledged the heating issues on the Poco F3 GT with the latest edition of the MIUI Bug Report For Poco Devices.

The report says that the heating problems while using the Poco F3 GT on MIUI might get addressed with an upcoming “temperature control strategy update”.

An ETA for the said update wasn’t given, but judging from past patterns, it should be rolled out within a couple of weeks tops. There’s no guarantee though.

For now, head over to our dedicated MIUI 13 tracker for the latest updates on the next big upgrade to Xiaomi’s Android software skin.
