[Updated] 4anime website not working or shut down permanently? Here's what we know
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on July 13, 2021) follows:
The past few months have been rough for fans of Manga and Anime. This, as many of the popular sites for streaming such content illegally, have been shut down.
Like a bad episode that just won’t go away, Manga Rock alternatives have surged following this shutdown with Tachiyomi, Mangadex, Mangazone, Mangabird surfacing as popular replacements. More on that here.
Now it is coming to light that one of these said popular alternatives, 4anime and Simply.moe, have been shut down permanently.
In a message that users are getting redirected to when trying to access 4anime’s domain, the platform goes to announce that they had to close down due to certain circumstances.
4anime goes on to notify users that the bookmarks will be available via login in the next few weeks. They also advise users to consider legal alternatives.
While we haven’t received any specifics from the owner, we can confidently say that Simply.moe and 4anime are both shut down for good. From here on out any sites, apps, servers you see with the 4anime.to branding are fake.
Reactions from users and lovers of Manga and Anime have been rather heartbreaking, many of them crying foul as they are no longer able to access the shows they love.
whoever was guilty of making 4anime shutdown … i hope your pillow is not cold when you sleep tonight.
Without 4anime I don’t think I would be as big of an anime fan as I am rn, the only reason I read manga and stay up to date with shows is due to 4anime, it showed me how good anime was, I am not pissed that it’s going away, it’s just sad as it’s where I started to watch anime.
i barely found out that 4anime closed 😭😭😭 wtf now i dont have any good sites to watch anime now.
Well, all is not lost and thanks to the dark world of piracy, there might be a way for these users to get access to the shows they love.
These are some of the alternatives that haven’t been reported. However, and as expected, your luck with these would be a hit or miss.
– Burning Series
– Dark Anime
– Dubbed Anime
– Geno Anime
– Pantsubase TV
Now, if you enjoy Anime and Manga content, you might want to consider legal ways of getting this content as that goes to support the creators of the said content.
We shall continue to follow this issue and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
Update 1 (July 14)
An individual shared the names of a couple more alternatives to 4anime that you can use instead:
wcoforever.com or 9anime.to
Update 2 (July 15)
Going by a recent report, a few months back, Australia listed 4anime in a site-blocking application along with some other pirate sites. Following that, 4anime and its sister site Simply.moe had to shut operations a few days back and it could be due to legal pressure.
The reason being, 4anime was recently targeted in a subpoena (requested from the Legacy Rights Group) at a Michigan federal court. It required Cloudflare to hand over 4anime’s operator’s personal information.
So there could be a legal angle involved here, however, there is no confirmation yet.
Update 3 (July 17)
According to recent reports from Twitter, affected users have found a couple more alternatives for 4anime. So, those who wish to watch their favorite anime content can do so via Animixplay or Anime Planet and Animepahe.
Update 4 (July 19)
Soon after a service shuts down, people start looking for alternatives, and during such time, many fake sources also come up, which by some are mistaken as the legit source. Something similar appears to be happening here.
Update 5 (July 20)
IST 12:30 – More 4anime alternatives or services similar to 4anime are being discussed in this Twitter thread.
