Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 & Mi 11 cast issues to get rectified soon as per forum mod; bug affects other devices too
Several Xiaomi devices are reportedly suffering from cast issues for the past few months. Users say that their phone doesn’t connect to their smart TV and other devices.
Notably, the device users try to connect their phone to does show up on the available devices list. However, trying to connect results in a prompt on the TV saying that the connection failed after around 10 seconds.
Device models affected by these cast issues include the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 10, Note 8 Pro, Mi 10T, and Mi 11. In fact, it is quite likely that many more devices are affected by the problem as well.
My recently bought redmi note 10 doesn’t cast to any device. I wish to seek advice on how to resolve this malfunction.
The phone cannot connect to the LG 32LK6100 TV via screen share. The phone sees the TV, starts connecting, and after 10 seconds the inscription appears on the TV, the connection failed. Any suggestions?
The cause of the casting issues on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, Mi 11, and other devices is hard to ascertain at the moment given that there isn’t any MIUI or Android version to which the issue is limited to.
Take the Redmi Note 8 Pro, for example, which is currently running Android 10-based MIUI 12, yet is facing the same issues as the Mi 11 which has been updated to Android 11-based MIUI 12.5.
Thankfully, a couple of Mi Community mods have acknowledged the issues saying that they’ve been confirmed as a bug.
Thanks for your report in MIUI Rom subforum. This issue is already reported. Our developers are working on it so kindly wait and be patient for upcoming updates. For further information, please stay tuned with Mi Community Global.
As clear from the above, the cast issues have already been reported to the developers, at least for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 and Mi 11, and a fix is set to roll out soon.
Hopefully, other affected devices will be treated similarly soon. In the meantime, you can try this user suggested workaround:
A workaround that may well work for your device is to install AirScreen App to TV only and mirror using the app.
