[Updated] Facebook pictures not loading or showing (can't connect error pops up)? You're not alone

Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on June 02, 2021) follows:

Facebook remains the biggest social media platform we have today. With over 2.7 billion monthly active users (MAUs), Facebook is an absolute must for every brand and every social media user.

With that many users, it is only expected that a little glitch or outage will affect millions of users across the globe.

This is exactly what is happening right now as the giant social media platform is seemingly glitching out or down altogether for millions of users across various regions in the world.

On Twitter, #FacebookDown is trending worldwide with users complaining of issues loading images on the platform.

Are Facebook pictures/photos in posts not loading for anyone else? #facebookdown

Alright what’s with Facebook not allowing me to click on pictures individually.

is facebook not letting anybody else click on pictures.

According to those affected, Facebook won’t let them view photos on the platform. This, as per the many reports doing rounds, happens when attempting to view or open individual photos shared by friends.

Others note that not even logging out of the platform and back in fixes the issue for them. And the fact that they can log out and back in suggests this has nothing to do with their internet connection.

If anything, especially if the magnitude of reports on the web is anything to go by, this indeed is a widespread issue that needs Facebook’s attention to fix.

Of course, there are a few suggested workarounds that should help affected users get back to viewing their exes’ photos, their aunties, and cat photos.

A troubleshooting page on the Facebook site offers this advice: “If you can’t see photos on Facebook and you’re seeing black boxes, empty boxes or broken images instead, you can try updating your browser.

“For videos, You can try updating your internet browser and installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. If that doesn’t work, please use the “Report a Problem” link on your account to let us know more about what you’re seeing when you try to view a video.”

As of this writing, we are yet to hear from Facebook if this is an issue on their end and when there will be a fix for the problem.

But as you’d expect, we shall continue to keep an eye on this and update you guys as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.

Update 1 (June 04)

In case images are still not loading in Facebook, then you may want to try out some of the generic troubleshooting steps that may fix the issue for you. The first of which would be to restart your computer or phone.

If that does not work, clear the browser’s cache and cookies or delete the cache and data from the app on your smartphone. Further, if you’ve got a VPN enabled, we’d suggest disabling it and trying to log in to Facebook again.

Also make sure that your browser isn’t blocking images on Facebook. To do this in Google Chrome, click on the ‘lock’ icon that appears in the URL/address bar when you’re on Facebook. Then select ‘Site settings’ and enable Images in case it’d disabled.
