[Updated] HBO Max app not working or throwing 'unknown error occurred' message issue said to be fixed but users continue to face it
New updates are being added to the bottom of the story
Original story from May 31, 2021 follows:
With the ongoing global crisis that is COVID-19, we find ourselves cooped up at home with little in the form of human interactions because, well, we are responsible citizens.
With all that time to kill, many have resorted to content streaming as a way of entertainment and to pass time, just to remain sane.
Luckily, there is no shortage of these platforms; from Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Videos, to YouTube, and HBO Max, just to mention but a few.
With our smart TVs and an increasingly democratized home internet service, we have everything to get us through this ‘cold winter’.
Well, at least most of us. It is now coming to light that many viewers on multiple platforms such as Roku and iOS are having an issue with this app.
According to reports, the HBO Max app is not working correctly as it keeps crashing and throwing an unknown error message on the said device.
Boo. Looks like @hbomax is down on the @Roku. I hope someone at @RokuSupport and @HBOMaxHelp is working on fixing things.
The issue which seems to have started a few hours ago continues to afflict HBO Max users on various devices, according to forum reports.
HBO Max’s official support handle has since come out to acknowledge this issue and notify affected users that this issue has been resolved.
Our team has resolved streaming issues with #HBOMax. You may need to close and reopen HBO Max, or sign out and sign back in. Please tweet us for further support, thank you!
Affected users have been advised to log out of their current sessions and log back in as the issue has been addressed.
Even with this, a significant section of users still claim that the HBO Max app isn’t working and it’s throwing an unknown error message or crashing.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb. Also, we’d love to hear from you. Are you also facing this issue? Tell us in the comments section below.
