Original story (published on November 20, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi has already provided the Android 11 update to the likes of Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Redmi K30 Pro (aka Poco F2 Pro globally).

Also, Android 11 eligible devices in the Redmi Note series were expected to get the latest OS update during Q1 2021.

The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro were the very first devices to get Android 11

However, in a recent unexpected turn of events, the Indian Redmi Note 9 Pro has already received the Android 11 stable update.

The Redmi Note 9 series includes several devices that further have different variants for multiple regions like the standard Redmi Note 9 which is known as the Redmi 10X 4G in China.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro sold in India is globally known as the Redmi Note 9S and has nothing to do with the global Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Another Note 9 series device specifically meant for the Indian market is the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and it is not sold anywhere else.

There also have been a bunch of newcomers to the series like the Redmi Note 9 4G (Redmi 9 Power/Redmi 9T), Redmi Note 9 5G, and the Redmi Note Pro 5G.

And while their respective spec-sheets may vary wildly, they still share a common name and hence are worth a mention in this piece.

After the Redmi Note 9 Pro Android 11 stable update in India, the global Redmi Note 9S units are expected to receive the latest OS update in the near future.

The same might transpire for the standard Redmi Note 9 (aka Redmi 10X 4G in China), Redmi Note 9 Pro (global), and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max (India).

There are no ETAs for the time being and all this is still based on speculation as no official announcements have been made on the matter.

Nevertheless, we hope the OEM lives up to the expectations for the remaining Redmi Note 9 series devices and soon provides the latest OS update.

That said, we will keep tracking the development of Redmi Note 9 series Android 11 update and will update this post as and when new information becomes available.

redmi-note-9-file-manager-notif

I suppose you are using Redmi Note 9, right? This notification is for devices running Android 11 (R). This version of Android has removed access to this folder so once you update to Android 11 (when it’s available for your device), it will be restricted to access the files. For now, it is not an issue as you are on Android 10. But MIUI’s file manager is showing this message so that you don’t lose any of your files.
