Original story (published on January 15, 2021) follows:

Realme has come a long way from being a sub-brand of Oppo to becoming a renowned name among major Android OEMs.

Realme debuted in May 2018 and it has since produced more than 30 smartphones that are being sold globally.

While Realme offers its own Android-based custom skin i.e., Realme UI, developers and modders are always looking for something extra.

This is one of the main reasons why Android OEMs release device specific kernel sources and the likes of Realme also release their own device specific bootloader unlock tools.

The OEM has officially released kernel sources and bootloader unlock tools for a bunch of Realme devices.

This includes the likes of Realme 1 and Realme U1, Realme 3 Pro and 5 Pro, Realme Q and X50 5G, Realme X, Realme XT, Realme 3 and 3i, Realme 6 Pro, Realme C3, Realme X2 and X2 Pro, and Realme X50 Pro.

There are numerous reasons for making kernel sources public including, but not limited to third-party ROMs and apps development, and much more.

Also, doing so gives independent developers and modders the chance to explore Android devices in whichever way they desire.

Realme, being a relatively new Android OEM, has been doing a spectacular job in terms of software development.

This is simply because of the fact that the OEM has consistently provided software updates to its devices as per its set schedules.

In fact, Realme devices are among the very first to get the latest OS update, Android 11 (Realme UI 2.0).

All this further explains that the OEM has been doing anything and everything in its power to stay on top of its game.

Releasing kernel sources and bootloader unlock tools also plays an integral part in the overall development process. However, kernel sources are yet to be released for Realme devices running Android 11.

That said, we will update this story as and when new bootloader unlock tools and kernel sources from the OEM becomes available so stay tuned.
