BBC iPlayer confirms Apple TV live stream issues after tvOS 14.5 update
A lot of video-on-demand service platforms have encountered bugs lately, leaving users frustrated.
The most recent addition to this list is the BBC-owned iPlayer that provides streaming services over a variety of devices including TVs in the UK.
Apple TV users, like any other TV users, have the liberty to opt for the subscription of their choices where every major streaming app is compatible for use.
Things were going well until the recent update of tvOS 14.5 where it has triggered an issue related to the BBC iPlayer.
Users have started to raise the issue where they have confronted unexpected live stream delay on BBC iPlayer when watching on Apple TV.
According to them, the live streams are playing from the two-hour Live Restart point by default.
Even though it can be fast-forwarded to the live point but it only spoils the streaming experience in general.
Out of the many reasons of worry, this is certainly not the one. Major upgrades like the tvOS 14.5 often get surrounded by bugs and issues.
This isn’t something new as apps do require a redesigned code in order to establish compatibility with the new system software iteration.
Well, it’s good that at least the issue has officially been acknowledged by the company customer support.
Hello Paul, we’re aware of an issue with live streams on Apple TVs
This implies that a fix may already be under works and will roll out within no time after which live stream on iPlayer will be back how it used to be on Apple TV.
A prompted response is something that boosts the brand’s reputation among the user base.
In the meantime, sit back and relax, we will update you as and when the said fix rolls out.
