Samsung Free recently replaced Samsung Daily that appears on the left-most panel on the homescreen on devices from the company.

While the name changed, the South Korean giant didn’t bring any major new features right off the bat with Samsung Free. Although, it does bring a slightly more appealing UI.

But it seems the company is making its big move now. Samsung has announced that its Samsung Free service is getting a new ‘Watch Tab’.

Users will be able to watch content from Samsung TV Plus — the company’s own free TV streaming service — directly through the Samsung Free panel on the homescreen.

The Watch Tab will be available on Samsung Free to users older than 13 years of age (16 in Germany and 14 in the UK) for free.

Samsung says that it’s filled with 130+ channels worth of original content from Samsung TV Plus which means there should be something of interest for everyone.

The media player offers a pop-up mode, fullscreen mode, or a basic inline mode that would let users navigate around the interface while watching content.

It also features an Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) with categories such as News, Kids, Comedy, and International to let viewers find what they’re looking for with just a few taps on the screen.

Apart from that, viewers will also be able to view channel and program details, create a favorite channels list, view recently played channels, and set reminders for programs.

To sum things up, the new Watch Tab on Samsung Free is similar to most other streaming apps but it lives right on your homescreen.

Samsung Galaxy S21 users will also get the option to choose between the Google Discover Feed and Samsung Free.

That said, the new Watch Tab for Samsung Free will start rolling out on April 30. Samsung Free can also be downloaded from here.
