Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services thanks to the availability of millions upon millions of songs and all major podcast channels.

Apart from that, Spotify offers a bunch of useful features that make using the app a breeze. One of these features is Spotify Connect.

It lets users listen to music or podcasts on their smart speakers or TVs, using the Spotify app as a remote.

Unfortunately, it seems some Spotify users are facing issues while using the Connect feature since the progress bar has stopped working for some or does not sync up with Google Assistant or Chromecast devices.

My Spotify hardly works when I’m using my phone, especially when connected to the Google home. The song will play but the time at the bottom won’t move, and the song title never changes from the first in the playlist. (Source)

I have had this since yesterday. Whenever I cast it to a different device, the playbar stops moving and it gets stuck on the last song. (Source)

Yeah, there’s something super-janky about Spotify w/ Chromecast devices. No idea why, but it’s not unique to Pixels. (Source)

The problem has been around for a few days now and reports of it continue to pour in on Reddit threads.

According to users, the progress bar does not stay in sync with the music being played via the Spotify app. Apart from that, the ‘Now playing’ song also does not update when a new song starts playing.

Fortunately, the company has acknowledged the Progress bar issue with Spotify Connect and has confirmed that it is being looked into.

While the issue is being looked into, Spotify has not divulged any further details regarding the time it will take for it to be fixed.
