Asus is famed for its ROG Phone in the smartphone market. These devices are primarily designed and manufactured for mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Every generation of ROG Phones arrives as a flagship device. The hardware indeed is impressive but things go double back when it comes to software updates.

Asus’ negligence in the Asus ZenFone Max series devices’ software update policy has frustrated many users. The Asus ROG Phone users too aren’t clear with the company’s major update policy.

While most of the OEMs have already upgraded their flagship-level devices to Android 11, Asus is still struggling to kick off an upgrade program for the ROG Phone 3.

The likes of Realme, Xiaomi, Samsung, and Nokia stand way ahead in the Android 11 race with a big chunk of their devices already enjoying the major OS, beta or stable.

While ROG Phone 3 users are eagerly waiting for the Android 11 update, the company seems to prioritize the launch of its next flagship — the ROG Phone 5.

But there lies some ray of hope as Asus opened up an application inviting beta testers for Android 11 a few weeks ago.

However, it has been quite some time since the enrollment process began and we are yet to see the first visuals of the Android 11 update.

For a flagship device that was launched last summer, just getting started with the beta process is a significant delay.

Although the company has not spoken anything in this regard, one of the forum moderators reveals that the team is still working on the beta program. Here’s what he says.

We’re still working on getting the beta program ready. We’ll share more information then, so don’t worry about missing it.

Now that other brands have started emphasizing eminently on the software front, Asus really needs to accelerate its software development program to keep up with the competition.

We have arrived in the last month of Q1 and it will be interesting to see what plans Asus has for this device.
