OnePlus has, over the years, positioned itself as an enthusiast brand that appeals to geeks, nerds and spec-heads. For the most part, the brand has delivered.

Add that to the fact that OnePlus has one of the most vibrant communities in the whole Android space and you have yourself a recipe for innovation and experimentation.

OnePlus does have an in-house innovation team called OneLab. This team is responsible for pushing new and experimental projects and ideas and once in a while, the public gets a glimpse of what’s cooking.

Like now, for instance. OnePlus’ OneLab is today inviting users who would like to take their new innovation out for a spin. This, the company says, is an experimental project that is related to Hashtags.

For you cavemen out here, hashtags are used on social media websites and applications, especially Twitter, to identify digital content on a specific topic.

It is an all-in-one hashtag management tool that aims to make the tagging process easier and allows you to create your unique hashtag collection and copy hashtags to social media with one tap.

The team over at OnePlus’ OneLab says that they will be rolling out a new hashtag feature in the next version of the app and they would like to invite a few users to try it out before they officially launch the feature.

To be part of this team of testers, you need to fill in this form and make sure you input the same email you have used to sign into your Google Play Store.

Successful applicants will be required to:

1. Download our app and use it for one week.
2. Report to OneLab if you encountered any bugs or problems.

It is interesting to see a company that’s been focused on hardware and the accompanying software taking a detour into the whole consumer app development scene.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info on this OneLab Hashtag app push from OnePlus so stay tuned.
