[Updated] OnePlus 7/7T series Android 11 update is here unofficially as custom ROMs

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 16, 2021) follows:

One of the greatest perks of Android is the fact that the entire operating system is open source. The code is dubbed AOSP and is available for developers, or anyone for that matter, to compile into their own version of Android.

Such versions have come to be known as custom ROMs and have become a staple alternative for people who own devices that no longer receive Android updates or enthusiasts that simply love tinkering with their phone.

      The OnePlus 7T

Anyway, while the OnePlus 7/7T series is still under OnePlus’s radar when it comes to software updates, the custom ROM development for the devices is already going pretty strong.

This is apparent from the fact that the series recently received a bunch of unofficial Android 11 ROMs from major players like LineageOS, Kang OS, CrDroid, and more.

All this comes while the OnePlus 7 series is yet to receive the Android 11 update officially in the form of OxygenOS 11. Hence, if you are a fan of pure, stock Android and can’t wait to get your hands on Android 11, then these ROMs may be the way to go.

Custom ROMs present Android in its purest form

However, keep in mind that you may run into minor bugs here and there as Android 11 development for the devices is still in its budding stage.

We have compiled a list of some of the Android 11 ROMs available for the OnePlus 7/7T series for easy accessibility.

Again, these ROMs are all part of the initial stages of Android 11 ROM development and hence, the devices are slated to receive many more new ROMs in the coming days.

That said, be sure to also check out our dedicated OxygenOS 11 update tracker if you are interested in when your OnePlus device will receive the Android 11 update officially.

      Update 1 (February 16)

06:35 pm (IST): Those who love Google’s Pixel UI are in for a treat as the Pixel Experience ROM is now available for the OnePlus 7 in beta. You can head here to download the latest build for the device.
