New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 05, 2021) follows:

With just how capable our smartphones have become, it is easy to spend way too much time on them, especially in this digital, social-distancing reality we live in.

Of course, too much of anything can make you sick, even the good can be a curse. Too much use of smartphones is detrimental to one’s health and these tech companies know this all too well.

It is for this reason that Google now builds Digital Wellbeing into the newer versions of Android, a set of tools that should give users a little insight into their smartphone usage habits in a bid to make them aware of this metric.

Additionally, there are countless Digital Wellbeing ‘plugins’ from Google’s creative labs for users that would like to take a more proactive approach to taming their smartphone use.

Not to be left behind, OnePlus has its own tool that seeks to help users achieve this — Zen Mode. Zen Mode locks users out of their devices completely, effectively forcing them to do other things for the period Zen Mode is engaged.

Recently, we saw a new Zen Mode update 2.0.1.0 that brought with it features such as new theme sounds to the OnePlus 5 series of devices and newer OnePlus offers.

It looks like OnePlus isn’t done with this feature as the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, pushed out a tweet recently that seems to be hinting at new features coming to Zen Mode.

In the tweet, he goes on to invite users to pitch in ideas of how the company could improve the Zen Mode experience.

Start of a new year is a good time for reflection. I’m thinking about how we use our devices, and how we can use them less when we want to. We’ve done things for this before (Zen Mode, etc.), but there’s always room for improvement. What does everybody think? #NoDetailIsTooSmall

It will be interesting to see what ideas users of OnePlus devices will have with regards to this exercise. We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info.
