New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 28, 2020) follows:

The upcoming MIUI 12.5 has been the talk in many Xiaomi forums for the last couple of weeks or so. And for good reason. MIUI 12.5 promises stability and system optimizations ahead of MIUI 13 update.

The timelines for this update are pretty much known at this point. Aside from the eligible devices, we know that the stable release should hit supported devices sometime in February 2021.

That puts the release date a little over two months away and in line with that, we’re now seeing Xiaomi breaking the ground with respect to this new operating system.

Earlier reports indicated that Xiaomi was planning to officially unveil this new skin on December 28 to coincide with the launch of the Mi 11 series launch.

True to the company’s word, today we’re getting word that Xiaomi is officially opening up MIUI 12.5 closed beta registration for up to 21 supported models.

It remains unclear why this is. However, rest assured that we’re hard at work, scouting for any subsequent info and you might want to stay tuned to our dedicated MIUI 12.5 tracker for more.
