Some T-Mobile users on OnePlus phones facing Visual Voicemail (VVM) activation issues, as per reports
Our smartphones have gotten really smart over the past few years. But they’re still phones and that means, they’re still required to do phone stuff, like making calls, texts and voicemails.
Of course, we’ve seen various initiatives to breathe some new sense of sophistication to these services in the form of RCS and Voice over LTE, Voice over Wi-Fi and so on, all to the benefit of users.
T-Mobile offers its customers services like the Visual Voicemail app. This app basically offers users a user interface to their voicemail box, thereby negating the need to call the voicemail number to retrieve them.
This is such a nifty tool to have and with its premium plan, T-Mobile will even transcribe the voicemail for you and have you read the voicemail message instead of listening to it.
The T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app is available on the Google Play Store for any T-Mobile user on Android. Unfortunately, some users of OnePlus devices seem to be facing an issue with this VVM service.
A section of these OnePlus device owners on T-Mobile note that they’re getting a ‘Can’t activate visual voicemail’ message when trying to setup VVM service on their devices.
My visual voicemail VVM worked perfectly fine on my T-Mobile OnePlus 6 but does not seem to work on my new 8 Pro. Anyone know how to get this to work?
I’m on T-Mobile USA, purchased OP8Pro unlocked, and there’s no way i can have stock dialer visual voice mail feature working, help needed.
According to one of the users, this is a known issue and has since been reported to both T-Mobile and OnePlus. According to his report, the issue stems from an incorrect voicemail number that is greyed out and cannot be modified, at least for now.
At the time of writing, it is unclear whether other dialer apps on the said OnePlus devices have the same issue, or the way forward for users facing this issue.
In the meantime, more and more reports keep trickling in from users that report being unable to use T-Mobile’s more convenient way of handling voicemail messages.
Googled the heck out of this already and NOTHING worked. VVM simply will not work on TMobile. When I use the TMobile VVM app, it works but literally every single time I close the app and open it back up, it says “new account detected, click yes to activate”. On my OnePlus 6T (TMobile) it just worked 100% of the time with no problems.
Also worth noting is that, a number of users report having absolutely no issues with T-Mobile’s Visual Voicemail on previous OnePlus devices such as the OnePlus 6T.
