Xiaomi offers a lot of in-house apps, including the Gallery and Mi Music Player apps, with its custom skin i.e., MIUI. Also, the OEM has recently announced that MIUI 12 is officially available for 31 devices.

As per recent reports, Xiaomi might be suspending the development of MIUI 12 soon in order to prepare the MIUI 12.5 update.

Now, the OEM has released an update for the MIUI Gallery app which offers a lot of improvements and some new features.

The MIUI Gallery app update version 2.2.17.16 brings along PDF converter, OCR support to more devices, and other optimizations.

Once installed, below are the changes and improvements you can expect from the updated Gallery app.

1. Added the function of converting images to PDF files;
2. Added function to enter photos page of camera preview image;
3. Optimized one-click original image download option on setup page;
4. Added device frame screenshot for Mi 10 Ultra, Redmi K30 Pro, Redmi k30 Ultra;

5. OCR function adapted to other models;
6. Optimized the ranking function of album pages, which can save the last ranking and the result;
7. Album performance has been optimized, various issues have been fixed, and the usable quality of the album has been improved.

It must be noted that this update is meant for the Chinese MIUI ROMs, hence, it might not work on global ROMs. Of course, this should change soon.

Apart from that, the MIUI Music Player app has also received a revamped UI for the home screen which makes it even more accessible.

This update is also meant for the Chinese MIUI ROMs which means that it might be incompatible with the global ROMs.

Nevertheless, it is good to see that Xiaomi is constantly improving the overall user experience by providing such updates to its in-house apps as well as custom skin.
