New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 01, 2020) follows:

Android 11 was officially unveiled on September 9 and the devices that were first in line for the update, mainly Google’s own Pixel devices, have already bagged this build.

Also, thanks to the developer community, there are already a number of Android 11 custom ROMs for a few devices. Other OEMs are also hard at work, building and testing their Android 11 skins, all at different stages of the process.

Xiaomi’s line of Android One devices, the Mi A-line, has had one too many issues, all surrounding updates. On September 15, we got word from Xiaomi that Android 11 for the Mi A3 was not in the works and as such, it would be a while before the device gets updated.

In a message posted on the popular Xiaomi-focused group on Telegram, Xiaomi & MIUI News | Xiaomiui, it appears that Android 11 for the Mi A3 is in the works after all.

The published list that was updated on September 30 is not official as it is not coming from Xiaomi. However, all things considered, and knowing the track record of this publication, this looks closer to the truth than anything else.

In the list, the following devices are reported to have started undergoing Android 11 tests internally.

– Mi 10T Pro,
– Mi 10T,
– Mi 9 SE,
– Mi 9 Lite/Mi CC9,

– Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, and
– Mi A3

These come to join the other Xiaomi devices such as the Mi CC9 Pro/Mi Note 10, Redmi K20/Mi 9T, and Redmi K30/Poco X2 whose internal release dates for Android 11 have already been revealed.

This is a very welcome move considering thatother OEMs aren’t slacking either on their development of Android 11.

At this pace, we should see a much faster adoption of Android 11 compared to any other previous Android version. All this goes to show that Android as a platform is coming into its own.

That said, we still don’t have any concrete timelines for when any of these devices are set to receive stable builds of Android 11.

We shall continue to keep an eye out for any subsequent communication from Xiaomi, or any trusted third-party source so stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, there’s this purported list of Xiaomi devices that are eligible for an update to Android 11. We also have a dedicated Android 11 tracker for Xiaomi devices here.

Update 1 (November 07)
