New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 02, 2020) follows:

For a long time, stock Android was revered as the best folk of the open-source mobile operating system.

Since then, custom Android skins have come a long way and today, they offer rich Android experiences without many of the vices that early skins were known for.

Funtouch OS has been Vivo’s custom Android skin

Today, we have so many custom skins from various OEMs; Samsung with its One UI, Xiaomi with MIUI, OnePlus with OxygenOS, Huawei with EMUI, ColorOS from Oppo, and so on.

It is not uncommon to see an OEM jump ship to use a different custom skin. We saw Realme ditch its mother company’s ColorOS in favor of its own Realme UI and recently, Vivo has been reported to be doing the same.

Recently, we saw reports of Origin OS, Vivo’s upcoming custom skin on top of Android, set to replace the company’s current Funtouch OS.

It is still unclear how Vivo Origin OS will be different from Funtouch OS. That said, we know that it will bring a complete UI overhaul.

The new skin is expected to be unveiled at Vivo’s Developer Conference that is slated for November 19. For now, though, the leaks just keep on coming.

Thanks to a leak from Digital Chat Station, the Chinese tipster on Weibo who was responsible for the earlier reports of Origin OS, we get a few more clues on this upcoming skin.

A leaked image of the Origin OS operating system hints towards a built-in Android and Origin OS switch buttons and 2 different home screens.

The original OS of Blue Factory, which is the brand new Origin OS, has also undergone major changes in UI style this time. The internal test system I saw has built-in Android and Origin switch buttons, two different styles of desktops, like a parallel world, a bit interesting

These new UI changes suggest that this upcoming custom Android skin for Vivo devices will differ vastly from what we’ve come to know about Funtouch OS.

This is pretty exciting stuff for Vivo users as it begins to beg the question, which devices will receive this update? What are the timelines?

All this is set to be addressed on November 19 at the said Vivo Developer Conference. For now, though, it is all about the leaks and the teases that Vivo lets on as we draw closer to the big day.

Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb as we shall be on hand to bring you all the latest info surrounding Origin OS as and when it becomes available to us. More on that here.
