Original story (from June 04) follows:

By virtue of smartphone units sold in Q1 2020, Vivo is the sixth leading vendor in the world with a market share of 7%. According to a Counterpoint Research, this equates to over 21 million units shipped in the said period.

Despite its solid position in the top 10 list of smartphone vendors in the world, Vivo might not be known to many people in the west. For a quick intro, Vivo is the company that pioneered the in-display fingerprint scanning tech on your current phone.

Vivo X20 Plus UD is the first smartphone ever with an under-display fingerprint scanner

The company is also at the heart of several other smartphone innovations, but that’s not the purpose of this article. Here, we talk about the company’s software update escapades, more so the latest Vivo Android 10 update that brings Funtouch OS 10 to eligible devices.

Vivo Android 10 update (Funtouch OS 10)

Similar to a few other Android vendors, Vivo also registered three devices into the beta program of Android Q, namely Vivo X27, Vivo NEX S, and Vivo NEX A. However, these devices are yet to receive the stable Funtouch OS 10 update (as of June 4).

Matter of fact, Vivo still has a long way to go as far as the stable Android 10 update is concerned. Most devices are still testing the beta version with an expected release of the stable OTA somewhere in Q2 and Q3 2020.

As of this writing, these are the devices that have received the stable Vivo Android 10 update so far:

Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
