The OnePlus 8 series of devices represent the company’s 2020 flagship series and as such, they will probably be first in line for an update to OxygenOS 11, the company’s custom skin on top of Android 11.

Recently, we saw OnePlus release OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 to eligible devices. This being an early build, there were bound to be issues. And boy were there serious issues!

We’ve covered some of these troubles that users of the Open Beta program faced with this build including freezing, green tint in 60Hz, Spotify queue, broken Google Assistant launch gesture, among others.

Today, in a FAQ posted by OnePlus for users running OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1, the company moved to clear the air on some of the changes coming to OxygenOS 11 and the bugs that users have been facing.

Here’s an excerpt from the FAQ session on changes in OxygenOS 11.

Q: Why has Colorful Tone been adjusted / removed in OS11?
A: OS11 has a refreshed visual design for a better integral experience. Display functions have been redesigned, and Dark Mode has been optimized as well. “Tone” in “Customization” is now moved under “Display – Dark Mode”, two options, i.e., “Schedule on/off” and “Force Dark Mode” have been added. We are looking forward to your feedback & suggestions.

Q: How do I enable AOD?
A: Please navigate to Settings – Display – Ambient Display – Always-on ambient display. You can also schedule it as needed.

Q: In the OxygenOS 11 open beta, there are only two rows of icons in the drop-down status bar.
A: The interface design in the public beta version is not the final version. We will continue to optimize it in future. Please look out for updates in the upcoming versions.
