Samsung S-Pen Pentastic app coming to Galaxy Note 9 units on One UI 2.1; AI Gallery Zoom for upscaling images wider rollout confirmed

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 20 series back in August and the devices offer One UI 2.5 out-of-the-box. The Galaxy Note series devices are known for their cutting-edge specs and the ease-of-access they have to offer.

The Samsung S-Pen feature is the highlight of every Galaxy Note device and with the Galaxy Note 20 series, the OEM has highly improved the S-Pen functionality. However, older devices like the Galaxy Note 9 have not received any improvements for the S-Pen yet.

Now, it seems that Samsung is planning to upgrade the S-Pen Pentastic app on the Galaxy Note 9 series running One UI 2.1. A user took to the Samsung community forums asking about the Pentastic app availability for the Galaxy Note 9 series as the feature is not yet available officially.

The user got a response from the community moderator who stated that the Pentastic app will be distributed to the Galaxy Note 9 series with One UI 2.1 or above. This means that the Galaxy Note 9 devices might get the S-Pen Pentastic app functionality in the near future.

However, the moderator also stated that the feature will have limited functionalities while no reasons were provided by the moderator for these restrictions. Moreover, there is no exact schedule for the distribution of the said feature on the Galaxy Note 9 series.

Apart from this, another feature which might arrive on some of the Galaxy M series devices is AI Gallery Zoom. This feature is capable of upscaling images with the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence) when they are viewed from the Gallery app.

AI Gallery Zoom is currently supported on devices with Exynos 9611 processor and SDK 730 chipset or above. The Galaxy M31s, A51, and A71 currently support this feature but the Galaxy M31 and M30s might also get it as these devices pack the same chipset.

This is still based on our speculation as the OEM is yet to provide more clarity on the availability of the AI Gallery Zoom feature. That said, we will provide updates once more information becomes available.

Meanwhile, you can check out our One UI 2.5 update tracker to know when it arrives on your device. Also, since Android 11 is also about to release, be sure to go through our Samsung Android 11 (One UI 3.0) update tracker as well.
