[Update: Rolling out] Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite Android 10 update confirmed

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on May 22, 2020) follows:

Motorola’s Moto G series has been shouldering the company for years. It is the series of phones that keep Moto’s smartphone division relevant. And this is despite the new Moto One family of devices.

Over the years, Motorola releases utmost three variants of Moto G-branded handsets annually. But things changed with the release of the Moto G7 series where the company put up four variants for sale, including the Power model.

Things got even messier with the launch of the Moto G8 family. This time, there are five variants in the series namely Moto G8, Moto G8 Power, Moto G8 Plus, Moto G8 Play, and the Moto G8 Power Lite.

The latter was unveiled in April 2020 but for some reason, it comes pre-installed with Android Pie out of the box. Matter of fact, the Moto G8 family is quite messy when it comes to the software running the show.

Besides the Moto G8 Power Lite, the Moto G8 Plus and Moto G8 Play also have Android Pie pre-installed. As for the standard Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power, Android 10 runs the show out of the box.

So far, not even the Moto G8 Plus has received Android 10 and neither has the Moto G8 Play, but they should get the OS at some point. As per the latest reports, Moto G8 Power Lite owners can rest assured that Android 10 update is also coming their way.

This was confirmed by Motorola India on Twitter when asked about the status of the Moto G8 Power Lite Android 10 update, all but putting any doubts to rest.

What remains to be seen is when the OS will actually arrive. We’ll keep you updated about the release date when the time comes.

      Update 1 (August 8)

A new tweet from Motorola Brazil suggests that the Android 10 update for the Moto G8 Power Lite is still pending development. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a specific date or even a month as to when users can expect to see the update.

      Translated text (Original language: Portuguese)

Hello! The Moto G8 Power Lite should receive Android 10, but it is still pending development, as soon as I have more details I’ll let you know, okay ?!

      Update 3 (October 03)

User reports (1,2) on Twitter suggest that the stable Android 10 update for the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite has begun rolling out in Brazil. The software is available over-the-air as version QOD30.160-26.
