New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 31, 2020) follows:

Oppo, like its sister brands under BBK, knows a thing or two about building good devices that offer so much value for money. It is therefore no surprise that in the latest 2020 smartphone vendor rankings, Oppo stands 5th globally with 4.65%, only trailing behind industry giants Samsung, Apple, Huawei and Xiaomi.

The Oppo R15x and the Oppo K1 were both launched in 2018 and they are the exact same device, only that the R15x packs a little more storage. Both devices ran ColorOS 5.2 based on Android Oreo out of the box and have since been updated to Android 9 Pie.

Since both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor which is still pretty capable, even in 2020, the devices are eligible for an update to Android 10-based ColorOS 7.

We have already seen some important milestones along the path to an official release of Android 10 for these two devices and most recently, we saw the company beginning recruitment for Beta testers for this build. The initial Beta builds were slated to roll out to successful applicants starting July 2.

Today, new reports indicate that Oppo plans to release the stable build of ColorOS 7 (Android 10) for both the Oppo R15x and the Oppo K1 sometime in August.

In a recently-shared ColorOS 7 August Open Upgrade Plan, the Oppo R15x and the Oppo K1 are both listed to be in line for an update to Android 10-based ColorOS 7 beginning August 17.

This comes as really good news to users of these two devices seeing as Android 11 is in its very advanced stages and they just might get their much-awaited update to Android 10 before attention shifts to the next big update, Android 11.

That said, we shall continue to keep an eye on this rollout and update our Oppo Android 10 tracker as soon as that drops. Check it out for much more.

Update 1 (August 17)

The stable Android 10 (ColorOS 7) update for the Oppo K1 and the Oppo R15x has been released and is rolling out via an OTA update. This new update comes with the software version F.11 for both the devices. See the full story here.
