New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 30, 2020) follows:

The Redmi devices from Xiaomi are known to receive only one major OS update unlike the Mi series which bags two. However, Xiaomi Redmi 7 is yet to get its only promised OS update i.e. Android 10.

Xiaomi is supposed to begin with the second round of its MIUI 12 update schedule come August. However, many devices have already bagged the latest custom skin from the OEM. Xiaomi Redmi 7 is listed in the second round which means that the wait for the stable MIUI 12 update is still on.

Also, we reported back in June that the Redmi 7 was receiving the Android 10-based MIUI 11 update version V11.0.1.0.QFLCNXM in China. This update was later rolled back because of reasons unknown while the Global and Indian variants remained on Android 9 Pie.

Now, Xiaomi has again started rolling out the Android 10 update for the Redmi 7 in China. However, this time the version is 11.0.2.0.QFLCNXM. This means that users will have to make do with MIUI 11 for the time being.

It must be noted that Xiaomi is known for updating the Chinese variants of its devices first. So, those who are on the Global and Indian Redmi 7 units will have to wait for a little longer before the Android 10 update goes live for them.

However, if you can’t wait for the official update to arrive on your Global or Indian Redmi 7, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the download link for the Chinese ROM along with the changelog so that you can flash it manually.

Changelog:

System
Stable MIUI based on Android 10

  • Device: Xiaomi Redmi 7
  • Codename: onclite
  • Channel: China Stable
  • Version: 11.0.2.0.QFLCNXM

Note: If you flash a Chinese ROM on your device then you will not be able to use Google apps and services as Chinese ROMs don’t include them.

Also, the OEM has still not made any announcements on the stable MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 7. This further delays the stable MIUI 12 update rollout for the Global and Indian Redmi 7 units as the Chinese units will receive it first.

It seems that the Redmi 7 software development team is taking its time in fine tuning the update. Hopefully, the stable update comes out soon and without any major issues.

Meanwhile, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to stay updated on the topic. You can also go through our Xiaomi Android 10 update tracker in case your Xiaomi device is yet bag the OS update.
