New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 28, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro might have already been succeeded twice by the Redmi Note 8 Pro and then recently the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but the early-2019 release still remains one of the devices to beat in its price segment.

Out of the box, the device has MIUI 11 running the show atop Android 9 Pie OS. Quite understandable considering the two were the latest software iterations at Xiaomi’s disposal back then. Things have changed, though.

Over a year down the line, the same software still runs the show, albeit with some minor improvements along the way. But this comes to an end today, at least for those eying the latest MIUI skin from Xiaomi – the MIUI 12.

Redmi Note 7 Pro

Announced for the global market in May, MIUI 12 has been rolling out gradually to multiple Xiaomi devices in various regions. Today marks the end for Redmi Note 7 Pro owners in India, but there is a catch.

Unless you signed up for a place in the Mi Pilot program a few weeks back, there is no place for your Note 7 Pro unit aboard the MIUI 12 ship. Instead, you will have to wait for the official rollout in the coming weeks.

Sure, we do have the download link with us, but it is possible the same rules that applied to the initial Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 12 update may apply to the incoming Redmi Note 7 Pro MIUI 12 update. This means that manually flashing the MIUI 12 ROM may brick your Note 7 Pro handset, so only take this route at your own risk.
