Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8 and Note 8T released last year and both devices were considered to be one of the best value-for-money smartphones. On the software front, the Redmi Note 8 launched with MIUI 11 onboard whereas the Note 8T came with MIUI 10. Although both versions were based on Android 9 Pie.

Nonetheless, these two phones are expected to receive the MIUI 12 update soon. But there has not been much concrete information shared on the ETA for the stable update until now.

Earlier, we reported that the Redmi Note 8 will get the MIUI 12 update in July or August. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 8T was also expected to receive the update in a few months’ time.

Seeking more information regarding the update, a user took to the Mi Community to get some answers. Turns out, the same Mi Device Team member who gave the “few months times” timeframe for the Redmi Note 8T, has now given more clarity.

In the repose to the user’s question, the Mi Device Team member made the following statement:

As always, No ETA for software updates. But probably it will release by next month.

While the statement is made with regards to the Redmi Note 8T, the same member made a similar comment for the Redmi Note 8.

Moreover, the MIUI 12 beta testing for the Redmi Note 8 is already underway. Hence, it’s safe to assume that the stable MIUI 12 update might release next month for the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8T.

IST 04:38 pm: A Mi Community moderator responded to a user’s query regarding the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8T by stating that the update is coming. Prior to this, moderators only mentioned that there’s no ETA for the update. See more details here.
