New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on June 19, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi releases weekly MIUI 12 beta updates that go live in China every Thursday. When announcing last week’s edition that arrived as beta 20.6.11, the company also revealed that the Redmi Note 8 Android 10 update was rolling out.

At the time, Xiaomi confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 was going to miss out on MIUI 12 beta 20.6.11 because it was “adapting to Android 10” and indeed, the firmware went live as beta 20.6.17. This also affected the Mi CC9e handset in China.

But as of this writing, the story is quite different. Apparently, the rollout did begin, but now Xiaomi says it has suspended the update after major bugs were discovered in the initial Redmi Note 8 Android 10 firmware.

The above screenshot comes is the official announcement post for the latest MIUI 12 beta 20.6.18, which came out yesterday. As you can see, part of the release notes confirms that the Redmi Note 8 did receive Android 10, but the update is now suspended.

Xiaomi doesn’t say the kind of bugs that forced the rollout to be suspended. But what looks certain is that it may take time before the patched-up version goes live again.

This is because starting next week and all the way to July 3, no MIUI 12 beta update will be pushed to any device in China due to the country’s Dragon Boat Festival celebrations.

Due to Dragon Boat Festival, MIUI China Beta ROM Update will be suspended from 26-06-2020 to 02-07-2020 and will be resumed on 03-07-2020.

If the fact that the suspended Android 10 update is buggy and not fit for use as a daily driver on your Note 8 doesn’t bother you, we have the download link to this firmware. Note that this firmware has been declared unfit for use, so take this route at your own risk.
