MIUI 12 camera features, Floating windows, & animated icons: Xiaomi devices that will receive the features

Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable version of MIUI 12 update to the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro in China. The global MIUI 12 update is also up and running, albeit in the beta stable version.

Only a handful of devices that include the Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi K20, and Redmi K20 Pro have access to the new MIUI 12 update outside China. The party is growing bigger, though, with the recruitment of new members ongoing.

The likes of Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7/7S/7 Pro, and Pocophone F1 have been invited to try the MIUI 12 beta stable ahead of the wider rollout, most likely in July.

Unless you just rose from the dead, you must have heard a thing or two regarding the many features Xiaomi has crammed into the new MIUI 12 update.

Plenty of new camera features are in there, including custom function layout, magic clone, a panel-based UI, Camera Interface color and Shutter sounds, voice shutter, subtitles, and more.

There are also other features like animated icons and floating windows. Below is what Xiaomi has to say about the latter.

Unfortunately, floating windows and animated icons, alongside some camera features, won’t be available for every Xiaomi (Redmi) device that gets upgraded to MIUI 12.

If you own any of the newer Mi, Redmi, or Poco devices, there shouldn’t be any issues enjoying these new MIUI 12 features once the update arrives.

The affected are those on older devices like the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Y2/ Redmi S2, Mi MIX 2, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi 7A (floating windows and animated icons).

MIUI 12 camera features: Eligible devices

Xiaomi says only the following devices will receive the new MIUI 12 camera features:

      1. Mi 10/Mi 10 Pro/Mi 10 Lite
      2. Mi Note 10/Mi Note 10 Lite
      3. Mi 9/Mi 9T Pro/Mi 9T/Mi 9 Lite/Mi 9 SE
      4. Mi 8/Mi 8 Pro
      5. Mi MIX 3
      6. Mi MIX 2S
      7. Redmi K20 Pro/Redmi K20
      8. POCO F2 Pro
      9. POCO X2
      10. POCO F1/POCOPHONE F1
      11. Redmi Note 9 Pro/Note 9 Pro Max/Note 9s/Note 9
      12. Redmi Note 8 Pro/Redmi Note 8/Redmi Note 8T
      13. Redmi 8/Redmi 8A/Redmi 8A Dual
      14. Redmi Note 7 Pro/Note 7/Note 7S
      15. Redmi 7/Redmi 7A
      16. Redmi Note 6 Pro
      17. Redmi Y3

MIUI 12 floating windows & animated icons: Eligible devices

Similar to MIUI 12 camera features, not all devices that will be upgraded to the new skin will support floating windows and animated icons. Apparently, only the following will be supported:

      1. Mi 10/Mi 10 Pro/Mi 10 Lite
      2. Mi Note 10/Mi Note 10 Lite
      3. Mi 9/Mi 9T Pro/Mi 9T/Mi 9 Lite/Mi 9 SE
      4. Mi 8/Mi 8 Pro/Mi 8 Lite
      5. Mi MIX 3
      6. Mi MIX 2S
      7. Redmi K20 Pro/Redmi K20
      8. POCO F2 Pro
      9. POCO X2
      10. POCO F1/POCOPHONE F1
      11. Redmi Note 9 Pro/Note 9 Pro Max/Note 9s/Note 9
      12. Redmi Note 8 Pro/Redmi Note 8/Redmi Note 8T
      13. Redmi 8/Redmi 8A/Redmi 8A Dual
      14. Redmi Note 7 Pro/Note 7/Note 7S
      15. Redmi 7
      16. Redmi Y3
      17. Mi Max 3
      Source

If your device is missing from the lists above, rest assured that the new camera features, the floating windows, and animated icons won’t be part of your MIUI 12 update.

The story is more of the same with respect to MIUI 12 Super Wallpapers, with only a handful of devices supported.
