Original story (published on April 30) follows:

At this point, there nothing new about Android 10. We have seen the operating system running on pretty much all Android phones released in the past couple of months and devices that are eligible for the update have been getting this update since its debut back in September 2019.

We have seen almost all OEMs, from the likes of Samsung to Huawei, Realme to Oppo, updating their devices with their skinned versions of this build of Android.

Today, Oppo is looking to extend this further with the rollout of the Beta for Android 10 update to the Oppo F9 and the Oppo F9 Pro. For clarity, this is NOT the official rollout of Android 10 to these two devices. Instead, it is the Trial version.

This update which is based on Oppo’s in-house ColorOS 7 has officially been unveiled for the Indian market. This update is only going out to users who applied for the Beta testing program and were successful.

According to Oppo, this update first goes out to the first batch with 2,000 quotas. More quotas are coming in mid-May so users who were successful in applying for the beta program but won’t receive the update, worry not, it will come.

However, it is worth noting that, to get the ColorOS 7 Android 10 Trial update, you must be running on the very latest software on your Oppo F9 or F9 Pro. These are software versions CPH1823EX_11_C.18_1180_202002071518 and CPH1823EX_11_C.19_1190_202003281428 for F9 and F9 Pro respectively.

Once you are running these latest builds, check for update and you should see a notification for the Trial Version with software number CPH1823EX_11_F.05_2050_202004291807. For more on the update process, check out Oppo’s official release statement.

Oppo did promise that we would see this trial build today and true to the company’s word, they seem to have delivered. However, this update should have hit the F9 and F9 Pro a while back. The rollout was postponed, thanks to the ongoing global crisis that is the COVID-19.
