[Redmi Note 8 & Note 8T as well] Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Google ARCore (Google Play Service for AR) support arrives

This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (from April 04) follows:

ARCore, as some of you may know is a support kit developed for Android-based devices that allows the usage of AR (Augmented Reality) apps. It basically integrates the real world with virtual content.

Considering the escalating number of apps and games – Pokemon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite (HPWU), Minecraft, & The Walking Dead: Our World to name a few- that are nowadays being developed using AR and AI, ARCore support is something that Android phone users look forward to.

Among the list of compatible devices, ARCore has been enabled for Xiaomi phones namely Redmi K20/Mi 9T, K20 Pro, Mi 8/8SE, Mi 9/9SE, Mi A3, Mi MIX 2S, Mi MIX 3, Redmi Note 7/7S and Note 7 Pro so far. However, Redmi Note 8 Pro lacked the support, but that changes now.

Earlier, when Redmi Note 8 Pro lacked ARCore compatibility, users had to install the AR-based app via sideloading them since those apps displayed “incompatible in your device” message. Even Google Play Services for AR threw a compatibility error (as can be seen in the image below).

But going by recent reports, Google Play Service for AR is now supported on Redmi Note 8 Pro units. This means the device holders will now be able to install AR-based apps directly from the Google Play Store. The info comes credits to Redditors who brought the change to notice a few hours back.

In a lookout for more information, we could locate a user shared screengrab that confirms ARCore compatibility for Redmi Note 8 Pro. So the wait is finally over.

However, the official device list of the supported ARCore smartphones hasn’t been updated as yet conveying the Redmi Note 8 Pro compatibility. Nevermind, you can just head to the Google Play Store to witness the change yourself. Happy installation!
