A new set of devices from different OEMs are picking up a new security update. Notably, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Redmi 8, Redmi 6, Redmi K30 5G, Verizon variants of the LG V60 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Alcatel Avalon are getting the new updates.

The update tags along the March 2020 security patchset for all of the devices, whereas some devices are also getting system optimizations and bugfixes as well.

Let us take a look at the updates received on each of the devices, one by one:

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

The Chinese smartphone OEM, Xiaomi has made the March 2020 security update available for the Mi Mix 2S. It brings some optimizations and new features like app lock and revamped start page for the device.

Notably, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S has already got the Android 10 stable update. And now, a new OTA with MIUI version V11.0.4.0.QDGMIXM has been released.

Redmi K30 5G

The recently launched Redmi K30 5G is also getting updated in China. The update bumps the version number to V11.1.18.0.QGICNXM, from version V11.0.11.0.QGICNXM and weighs in around 751 MB in size.

The update also brings a bugfix for the phone and new features like smart IP telephony, app lock and revamped start page along with March 2020 security patch.

Verizon LG V60 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Alcatel Avalon

One of the major US carriers, Verizon has now pushed a new update to three devices, namely LG V60 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Alcatel Avalon. Except for the LG V60 ThinQ, both the other two devices are getting the March 2020 security patch.

Takling about the update for the LG V60 ThinQ, this update arrives with version number V600M10c and improves the performance of the fingerprint scanner mechanism and some optimizations for the phone.

What’s changing:

The current software update:
– Enhances the performance of the Fingerprint mechanism to unlock the device.
– Enhances the user experience for upgrading to the Premium Visual Voicemail (VVM) service or downgrading from a Premium VVM service to basic VVM service.

Now talking about the Alcatel Avalon V, this is an entry-level smartphone by Alcatel that is powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset and offers 2GB of RAM.

The new OTA arrives with the version number 3D8EUEE1 and brings the March security patch for the device.

Last but not the least, the Verizon variant of the Galaxy Note 8 is also picking up the March 2020 security update. The new OTA carries version number DTC1 and is purely incremental in nature.
