One of the most critically acclaimed thriller anime and game, “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni” (When They Cry) is returning to your screens this summer with a new TV anime in July 2020.

It’s makers, 07th Expansion and Kodawa just announced the release timeline on the show’s official website.
Along with the new anime release timeline, the website also released brand new visuals and introduced fresh character designs. You can check out the new character trailer for the anime on Kodawa’s official Youtube channel.

The new anime PV promises a flood of nostalgia, along with cute new characters in the mix, with a dark bloody twist of course.
According to the announcement, the main cast is returning to voice the original roles, while Akio Watanabe of the Monogatari series fame is in charge of new character designs.

The new TV anime will be directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi, while Naoki Hayashi will take care of series composition.
Kenji Kawai will be responsible for the music for the new show, which is being produced by Infinite, with Passione heading the animation production.

Higurashi: When They Cry television anime series was first released in 2006, and followed by a second anime When They Cry II: Solutions (Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai) in 2007. Since then the franchise has garnered a cult fame, with many fan spin-offs and tertiary content released around it.
