The Realme X2 Pro is currently the second most premium offering the company has in store following the recent launch of the Realme X50 Pro 5G. Announced in October 2019, the X2 Pro became the first Realme handset to ship with a Snapdragon 800 series chipset.

Unfortunately, though, the device did not make its debut running the latest OS available at the time – Android 10. Instead, it has ColorOS 6.1 based on Android Pie out of the box, but this comes to an end this month.

Folks in China are already testing Android 10 on the Realme X2 Pro. The software arrived in January with Realme UI skin on top and is expected to leave the beta channels mid this month, at least according to Realme India support.

Meanwhile, in China, the same device recently received an update that bumped the security patch level to February 2020. While some were hopeful this update would also bring along Android 10, it doesn’t, instead, you get a new feature and a bunch of bug fixes.

As it stands, the story is also true for the Realme X2 Pro variant sold outside China. With many looking forward to the Realme X2 Pro Android 10 update, the best they get for now is February security patches.

Rolling out as version RMX1931EX_11.A.10, the update is still based on ColorOS 6.1, but it’s likely to be the last Pie-based firmware this device ever gets as an OTA update. Below is a summary of the changes included in the update:

Security:
● Android security patch: February, 2020
Dark Mode:
● Added from sunset to sunrise and schedule time feature
Fixed:
● Fixed exiting child mode failure after low power off
● Fixed the issue that cloning applications failed to login the fast application
● Optimized Dolby game sound delay

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
