New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 26, 2020) follows:

T-Mobile announced the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ One UI 2.0 (Android 10) update a while ago, but some owners of the S9+ haven’t seen the OTA download notification to date.

The Magenta carrier had promised to push the One UI 2.0 update to the two S9 handsets on February 23 and went on to deliver on this promise. But since the official announcement, it appears that no single owner of the T-Mobile S9 and S9+ variants has received the OTA notification.

It took T-Mobile a little longer to update the official software page for the Galaxy S9+ with details of the One UI 2.0 update after making similar updates to the standard S9’s software update page.

But even with both pages now updated with details of the incoming Android 10 update, many are still lamenting at the lack of OTA download notifications on both handsets.

That’s odd, mine says no update is Available and is still on the December 2019 patch (standard s9, TMobile)

Spoke with T-Mobile support, they say it’s coming out in batches and all you can do is wait

I chatted with the “Team of Experts” on the website. Said I was right that the update should be available, but that they’d have to put me on a call with tech support to figure out why it wasn’t. UGH…experts.

Edit 1: Anyone try SmartSwitch yet?

Edit 2: Tried SmartSwitch, it says I’m up to date on the December patch too.

The update is supposed to arrive as version G96xUSQU7DTA8, tagging along February security patches. But as you can see from some of the statements above, not even going through Smart Switch will grant you access to the updated One UI 2.0 firmware.

According to T-Mobile support, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ One UI 2.0 update is being rolled out gradually and is expected to hit all units by March 6, which is towards the end of next week.

While no one is in dispute with the part about the gradual rollout of the OS, the fact that there are no actual reports of S9 and S9+ owners who have received the new update is the reason everyone is up in arms.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
